VERY, VERY UNUSUAL ... manny ramirez is only 37 years ... so age is not really an issue ... not after manny single-handedly carried the los angeles dodgers into last season's october ... ramirez has been the most feared right handed hitter in baseball for the better part of the last 15 years ... the way manny terrorized nl pitching the last 2 months of 2008 is the best evidence why he is still feared ... ramirez has never been considered a steroids user ... manny ramirez owns 2 world series rings ... he is a 12-time all-star and world series mvp ... manny ramirez will one day be a first ballot hall of fame inductee ... so why after 3 1/2 months of free agency ... and 10 days into spring training for a new baseball season ... is manny ramirez still an unsigned free agent ... why has only 1 of 32 major league teams even made a credible offer for his hitting prowess ... 1 year/$25 mil ... why have both new york teams said no thank you (so far) to manny ... like i said ... very unusual

we know manny is represented by supersleezebagagent scott boros ... we know boros told manny last may he could get manny a new 4 year/$100 mil contract ... if manny could get the red sox to not exercise their 2009 option ... we know manny forced (10/5 rights) the red sox into trading him to los angeles where the option would not be exercised ... we know manny accomplished his goal of becoming a free agent ... free to sign that new 4 year/$100 mil contract ... we know manny is still free ... and he aint signed no stinkin contract ... more than unusual ... unprecedented

ill speculate ... players all across baseball talk ... managers talk ... general managers talk ... everyone talks ... or texts ... there are no secrets ... everyone across baseball knows exactly what went on here in boston last july ... everyone knows it was a team of 24 players who turned on their own teammate ... everyone knows the players forced the red sox to give up alot of future value just to get manny out of town ... "inside baseball" everyone understands just how very despicable manny ramirez' behavior became last summer ... so in spite of being a hitter and run producer extraordinaire ... manny's character flaws and lack of professionalism have turned his free agency into a toxic nightmare ... manny's value on the free market has now been defined ... he can still command big dollars in a weak market ... $25 mil was the dodgers last offer ... but he'll have to do it one year at a time ... not exactly what manny had in mind ... not quite what scott boros seeded into manny's mind ... another old adage comes to mind about now ... "what goes around comes around"
