quick hitter <> promotions and entertainment

cousin ed and me ... we had a conversation just last evening about minor league baseball parks and the PROMOTIONS AND ENTERTAINMENT they devise to attract families and young fans ... many of today's minor league venues are wonderful and affordable alternatives to a costly night at the big league ballpark ... and many of the minor leaguers' promotions are unique, ingenious, fun and kid oriented ... so why am i talking about this now ... because today i heard of a minor league promotion that struck me as unique and ingenious ... and funny as hell

the lowell spinners ... the single a/rookie affiliate of the boston red sox ... play their home games at le lacheur park on the campus of university of massachusetts @ lowell ... the spinners website lists a summer's worth of promotions for 2009 ... july 30st ... the eve of mlb's annual trading deadline ... will be "salute to quitters <> one year anniversary of manny ramirez trade" night at the ballpark ... ouch ... but i love it ... awesome

here in new england ... le lacheur field is just one of the kewl minor league venues an enthusiast on a budget can visit for a fun baseball game ... mc coy stadium in pawtucket, ri is the home of the red sox triple a affiliate ... the pawtucket red sox (aka the pawsox) <> hadlock field in portland, me hosts the portland sea dogs ... the double a red sox affiliate <> merchantsauto.com stadium in manchester, nh is home to the new hampshire fisher cats ... a double a affiliate of the toronto blue jays <> holman stadium is the nashua, nh home of dan duquette's independent can-am league team ... the american defenders of new hampshire
