wow

every so often, something happens in the world of sports that makes me truly proud to be the fan of sports that i am ... i have always marveled at how many of our local athletes, our teams and our sports media give of their time and talent to raise funds in support of charitable foundations ... i have always been intrigued by some of the unique and ingenious events our athletes, teams and media come up with to raise these funds ... i have always been impressed by the now 55 year bond between the boston red sox and the jimmy fund ... it is truly like no other in sport

and i have watched with amazement each year as the original sports radio weei jimmy fund radiothon back in 2002 ... which raised $325,000 ...
has evolved into the 2008 two day weei/nesn jimmy fund radio/telethon ... which inspired $4,839,016 in contributions for the jimmy fund and the dana farber cancer institute ... julie kahn, jason wolfe, big o, the soccer moms, dale, michael and mikey at weei all did an awesome job ... along with joe and dave in the broadcast booth at fenway ... and a whole cast of characters over at nesn who i dont get to see because i listen rather than watch ... raising a record amount in contributions with excellence in programming ... and a pretty humorous segment with bill cosby in studio with big o and "lord buckley" ... mike andrews must sleep well at night knowing the baseball team that once employed him as a second baseman ... the players they employ today ... and the sports media that thrives and prospers with their success ... has the power and commitment to annually succeed in this fundraising effort ... wow!

more good listening from the weei/nesn jimmy fund radio/telethon ...
