my visit to foxborough ... the murals

in most places, the side walls of a building are just that ... boring, cold, impersonal cinder block or brick walls ... throughout patriot place, the side walls are much more than just blank walls ... here these side walls are filled with murals rich in new england patriots football history ... murals which market new england patriots football to visitors of patriot place ... murals that market the hall at patriot place (presented by raytheon) to visitors and fans of the new england patriots ... murals which brighten otherwise empty, lifeless walls ... murals around every corner

one of the greatest moments in new england patriots history ... december 7, 2003 ... miami dolphins (8-4) vs new england patriots (10-2) at gillette stadium ... new england wintry blast of snow, sleet and wind before game ... stadium seating buried in inches of snow ... fans shoveling snow to find fanny space ... into the 4th quarter, new england leads 3-0 on a 2nd quarter field goal by adam vinatieri ... with time winding down, miami starts another drive toward taking the lead ... tedy bruschi intercepts jay fielder and scampers 5 yards thru the snow for a touchdown ... new england leads 10-0 (and wins 12-0) ... fans of the new england patriots ... frozen and surrounded by snow ... erupt spontaneously ... throwing handfuls of snow powdery in the air ... in unison around gillette stadiuma moment from the early years (1960's) in new england patriots history ... this picture could have been taken at nickerson field (on the boston university campus) ... or at fenway park (home of the boston red sox) ... or at harvard stadium (home of harvard university athletics) or at alumni stadium (at boston college) ... because the patriots called each of these venues home for a period of time over the first 11 years of their existence
