documenting <> my sports axioms

wikipedia ... the 21st century version of my encyclopedia britannica ... defines axiom as

"in traditional logic, an axiom or postulate is a proposition that is not proved or demonstrated but considered to be either self-evident, or subject to necessary decision. therefore, its truth is taken for granted, and serves as a starting point for deducing and inferring other (theory dependent) truths."

a few of MY SPORTS AXIOMS ... and im only doing this so i can start to document ... and add to over time as "light dawns on marblehead"

on sports ... "thats why they play the games" ... put another way ... there's a reason they play the games ... all the games

on baseball ... a strong offensive lineup may carry a team through the long grind of a 162 game regular season ... and into postseason contention ... but pitching and defense win in october

on football ... when january arrives ... great defense stops prolific offense ... teams win super bowls with great defense

on sports radio callers ... in a sports town, a region ... sports nations even ... where fans are considered some of the most knowledgeable ... callers to sports radio 850 weei will generally be ignorant ... an embarrassment to the truly knowledgeable

on successful sports franchises ... it starts with committed, forward thinking, marketing focused ownership ... and its not a bad thing to be a fan of the sport
